IF YOU LIST, YOU LAST - (RESIDENTIAL): The goal of the class is to help students refocus on the quality of service in listings. During the Covid-19 Pandemic of 2020-2021, real estate agents had it easy. Prices in North Carolina increased by almost 20% annually and many people who left the real estate business previously came back and jumped in for the money grab. The National Association of Realtors reported an increase of membership to over 1.8 million Realtors® in the United States. Normally, that number is between 1.2 million and 1.5 million. As a result, the quality of service provided to home sellers diminished as agents could put a house on the market with years of deferred maintenance and at $25,000 to $50,000 over the actual value of the property and sell it in a weekend.

Learning to sell real estate in a down market, like both Steve and I did, made us better real estate agents. Now, facing a similar market as interest rates and inventories rise across the country, we thought it was a good time to create class that focused on the quality of the process and the art of listing homes.

IF YOU LIST, YOU LAST - (COMMERCIAL): This course was created to sharpen the listing skills and knowledge of existing commercial brokers and deliver insight to residential brokers as well regarding how this aspect of commercial real estate brokerage and others are conducted. Taking this NCREC-approved course provides 4 hours of elective credit for any broker.

My longtime friend and collaborator, Brian Pate and I met in late 2022 and decided that it was past time to provide learners a more complete and accurate representation of what it means to not only achieve listing successes, but to do so while closely adhering to the tenets of NC License Law & Commission Rule.

REAL ESTATE TRENDS IN THE 2020’S: This course was written to assist licensees to meet their primary objective of protecting and promoting the interests of their client by building the new. Keeping abreast of trends and changes in the real estate profession is more important than ever.

In order to give the course a very high degree of practical value and application to real estate licensees each trend is accompanied by a discussion of its impact on serving clients in the real estate industry and helps agents begin to assemble and implement a plan for dealing with these current trends.

Note, all NC brokers must take the NC General Update OR Broker In Charge CE course along with a 4-hour elective. This elective course satisfies 4 hours of the 8 hour annual NCREC requirement.

TITLE TO BE ANNOUNCED: This course is pending announcement and launch. More information will follow within the month of September, 2023. Thank you for your patience as we keep getting you the best courses we can offer!

What proof can a property manager or landlord require of a tenant who claims a need for an emotional support animal? What about homeowners associations—must accommodation be made in these communities? This course explores the issues and options for landlords and property managers surrounding assistance animals, helping real estate professionals who represent them to ensure that individuals with disabilities have equal access to housing in compliance with the law.

Whether for a buyer or seller, the comparative market analysis, properly done, can mean several thousands extra dollars in their pockets, and can determine whether a deal can be struck at all. But because it’s such a well-worn tool, it’s tempting for a licensee to get complacent with the CMA, and “phone it in.”  This course covers the how-tos of professionally researched  CMAs.

What can you do to improve the public’s perception of brokers? And what should you do when you run into an ethical dilemma or into a licensee who’s not behaving ethically? As a real estate professional, you can help raise the bar and improve the reputation of the industry. You can lead by example. Revised in January 2022 and designed to meet NAR Cycle 7 requirements, this course will empower you to recognize and respond to ethical dilemmas, inspiring consumer confidence.

According to a National Association of REALTORS® real estate report, staying up to date on new platforms and systems will remain one of the biggest challenges for brokerages in the coming years. The industry is constantly changing, and technology is a big driver of that change.  This course helps real estate professionals work with technology and reinforces putting client relationships first in the push to provide cutting edge tools and services.

When things go wrong in a real estate transaction, consumers often look to the licensee as the cause. To protect yourself, and to protect your clients, it’s important to understand the areas in which risk occurs and how to employ effective risk management strategies. That's what you'll find in this course.

To protect consumers and yourself, knowing how to manage the paperwork--whether it's cotton bond and ink or bits and bytes--is integral to your role. Maintaining detailed and organized records, even for transactions that don't close, not only satisfies regulatory requirements, it also protects your license..

Following your completion of any of these courses, you will be issued a certification of completion for your records. If relevant, please allow up to 72 hours for reporting to the NC Real Estate Commission for appropriate credit.
